Odisha’s Capital Bhubaneswar City Celebrates Its 69th Foundation Day

Odisha’s capital Bhubaneswar city celebrates its 69th Foundation Day. As a part of the celebration, plannings are made to observe the occasion with many events scheduled from April 13 to 15.

Bhubaneswar is one of the ancient Indian cities with a history of more than 2500 years. It was planned by architect Otto Konigsberger in 1946 and the foundation stone was laid by the then prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru in 1948. It is among the first four planned cities of India.

But now, the city been tagged with the smart city, many projects has been planned to be constructed under the smart city project. Some has been started and some are yet to be started.

To start with, ‘Bhubaneswar Mahotsav’ after being inaugurated today morning, a civilian parade was conducted by students from various schools and colleges from Rabindra Mandap to Jaydev Bhawan, here in the city.

In addition, a number of cultural programmes has been planned to be organised at Indira Gandhi Park every evening from April 13 to 15. Besides, different government and private buildings, roads, business establishments and petrol pumps will be decorated with colourful lights.
